Welcome. Hairy Phish is a Newcastle based illustration hub featuring the work of illustrator and student social worker - Chrissy McYoung. They specialise in work based around giving vulnerable people a voice and aiding people in finding ways to problem solve difficult issues.
Many of the products offered are illustrated counselling resources with a base in strengths based ideologies. Focus areas are grief work, emotional regulation and self care.
Hairy phish can also create custom resources for your agency - Please contact us for more information.
Chrissy McYoung has also written a book ‘Rusty’ - about the out of home care experience - from the perspective of a child going through it. This book has received an overwhelmingly positive response from both children in OOHC, foster care and those with their families - as well as from industry professionals including social workers, teachers and psychologists. The book gives a voice to many children who feel powerless and voiceless within a system that dominates their life. The book also contains an information section explaining trauma and the human cost of the OOHC sector.
Hairy Phish also does graphic design work for community services with prominent clients including Hunter Homeless Connect Day and F.I.S.H. (Family Inclusion Strategies in the Hunter). Please contact us for more information.
